Our Programs - Young Moms' Self-Sufficiency Program
Young Moms' Self-Sufficiency Program assists young mothers to identify realistic academic and employment goals, improve the health and nutrition of family members, increase a personal sense of competence and self-esteem, and foster a healthy relationship between father and children.
Young mothers can get it together - if the right kind of help is available. The Young Moms' Self-Sufficiency Program puts them on track toward self-sufficiency. This program provides opportunities for young mothers to overcome the many and complex barriers to self sufficiency and to reduce the life stressors that accompany early parenthood.
Case managers strive to eliminate incidents of abuse and neglect within this vulnerable population. Program outcomes are parent-focused and include:
- Participants will be educated on areas of child development;
- Participants will learn nurturing skills;
- Participants will be knowledgeable of effective responses to inappropriate behavior in their children;
- Participants will be knowledgeable of stress and anger management skills;
- Participants will develop a support system to reduce isolation.
- Participants will be knowledgeable about child abuse and neglect;
- Participants will achieve their educational and employment potential.

24 years old and their children who reside in St. Joseph County.
